Dark spruce forest frowned on either side of the frozen waterway. The trees had been stripped by a recent wind of their white covering of frost, and they seemed to lean toward each other, black and ominous, in the fading light. A vast silence reigned over the land. The land itself was a desolation, lifeless, without movement, so lone and cold that the spirit of it was not even that of sadness. There was a hint in it of laughter, but of laughter more terrible than any sadness- a laughter that was mirth;ess as the smile of the Sphinx, a laughter cold as the frost and partaking of the grimness of infallibility. It was the masterful and incommunicable wisdom of eternity laughing at the futility of lifeand the effort of life. It was the Wild, the savage, frozen-hearted Northland Wild.

You sit on the snow-covered ground. The sky above you is lit with a red aurora which happens a few times a year. This is what has earned the land of Yakone it's name. The freezing wind nips at your thick coat but you don't even shiver. Here in Yakone, it is always cold. You rarely see a patch of ground that has less than a few inches of snow on it. Your eyes look around, you can almost see the snow-capped mountains in the distant. Your ears perk as you hear the howls of wolves in the distance.
Do you reply?
In Yakone, a small region in Alaska, snow lovers and the cold obsessive live in peaceful harmony. Their dogs however are a different story. While also battling the dog against wolf discussion, Huskies fight over who can pull the best sled. While wolves fight for their land to the north.
The constant struggles against each other halt once a month though, and instead bitter rivalry overtakes the wolves and dogs spirits alike. When competing in a sled race, close to nothing can distract the determined canines.
With the sight of victory in every mutts mind, will the competitions drive them to a happy ending? Or merely an inevitable end?
